OEM Diagnostics & Pass-Thru
The Scanmatik 3 is designed to work with OEM diagnostic and programming applications supporting the SAE J2534 standard.
It can be used as a VCI / Pass-Thru interface between a computer and vehicle electronic control systems when the relevant OEM software supports the J2534 interface.
This allows supported OEM software to perform diagnostics, ECU programming and other manufacturer-specific service functions.
ECU Programming & Flashing
Scanmatik 3 supports a range of professional ECU programming platforms, including:
- PCMflash
- BitBox
- Combiloader
- MDFlasher
- Other software supporting J2534, RP1210 or compatible Scanmatik interfaces.
CAN-FD & DoIP
One of the major advantages of the Scanmatik 3 compared with the previous SM2Pro is its integrated support for CAN-FD and DoIP.
CAN-FD
The device provides 5 CAN 2.0 / CAN-FD channels, allowing it to communicate with different vehicle CAN architectures.
DoIP
A dedicated 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet channel is provided for DoIP communication.
This enables communication with newer vehicle electronic systems using Ethernet-based diagnostics.
K-Line & Older Vehicle Support
Scanmatik 3 is not limited to modern vehicles. It also includes interfaces designed for older automotive communication systems.
Supported interfaces include:
- ISO 9141-2
- ISO 14230-2 / K-Line
- Chrysler SCI
- J1850 VPW/PWM
- Single Wire CAN (GM)
This allows the same VCI to be used across both older and newer vehicle electronic architectures.
VAG ODIS & MB-DAS Functions
Scanmatik 3 includes additional software-specific functions designed to extend compatibility with selected professional diagnostic platforms.
Examples include:
- VAG ODIS – ignition state emulation
- Mercedes-Benz MB-DAS – K-Line multiplexing
These functions extend vehicle and function coverage when used with compatible software.
USB & Wi-Fi Connectivity
The Scanmatik 3 can connect to a computer using:
- USB
- Wi-Fi
The USB port is galvanically isolated, while the integrated Wi-Fi module uses dedicated Scanmatik firmware rather than conventional serial-port emulation.
Heavy-Duty Vehicle Support
Scanmatik 3 supports 24 V vehicle electrical systems, making it suitable for applications involving:
- Trucks
- Buses
- Other 24 V vehicles
The device also supports TMC RP1210C, a standard widely used for heavy-duty vehicle diagnostics and programming.
FEPS Programming Voltage
The integrated FEPS programming voltage generator can provide a programmable voltage range of 5–24 V for supported control units.
A separate AUX output is also available for programming voltage through the DB-25 connection when used with the appropriate AUX-type OBD2 cable.
Compatibility
The Scanmatik 3 is a VCI / Pass-Thru interface, so its compatibility cannot be defined simply by vehicle make and model year.
Compatibility depends on:
- Vehicle make and model
- Specific ECU / control unit
- Communication protocol
- OEM diagnostic software
- J2534 / RP1210 / DPDU support
- Specific ECU programming application
For this reason, it is not recommended to state a single general vehicle year range for the product.
